LAUTECH Students Should Get Ready To Resume Soonest – Senate President Saraki Reveals

Senate President Bukola Saraki has confirmed that students and lecturers of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomosho, will resume on Friday.
The management of the university had announced that students and staff of the varsity should resume on Monday, September 18 but the news had elicited a negative reaction from the striking staff members who said they were unaware of the development.
However, Saraki, via his Twitter page on Wednesday, said the imminent resumption of academic activities was due to the intervention of his office during a meeting held with the aggrieved lecturers.

  A Nigerian teenager who definitely had a bright future ahead of him has tragically lost his life after a brief illness. 16-year-old student, Mubarak Razak reportedly lost his life just after passing both the JAMB exams and Post-UTME with flying colours. Razak applied to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Ilorin in the Post-UTME screening before the unfortunate incident. He applied for Medicine and Surgery at University of Ilorin after being denied admission last year when he applied for Anatomy scoring 206 in UTME, immediately after graduating in a private secondary school in Ilorin, Kwara state. The registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has explained that students’ JAMB score is not a guarantee for admission. According to a The Nation report, the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says that only a combination of JAMB cut-off marks, post-UTME, O’ level results and other admission criteria as determined by institutions can ensure candidates’ admission. Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the JAMB registrar, disclosed this at an intensive Training and Sensitisation Forum on Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for the 2017/2018 academic session on Thursday in Abuja. Oloyede said that scoring higher than the minimum cut-off marks did not guarantee admission but made candidates eligible for admission consideration.
